Metrocon: Post #1 The Good The Bad and the Cosplay!

This years METROCON was 5x better than any I have attended in the past couple years. The Crowd was better, the costumes were better, and the dealers room was out of control. But one essential ingredient was missing from a truly satisfying Con, that ingredient was SHARISHARK!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Sadly Anna Sui came a calling and she had to work, but for the readers of the Asian Donut, I went, for you, and got photos of the coolest cosplay, and everything else your little hearts desire, so lets get started!

The Kingdom Hearts Kids were Out In Droves!!!!!!!

But the Black Butler kids were ready to command Sebastian with the flick of a wrist!

Panty and Stocking with Garterbelt was extremely popular as well,

Then there were these Panty and Stockings

And thanx to all the rest as well, for making METROCON so great!!!!!!!!!!!!

also thank you to my assistant for the day SICKEY VICKEY
Stay tuned for part 2 tomorrow!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Daily Donut for Sunday: キャンディ or お菓子

English Translation: Candy or Sweets

(Daifuku and Mochi is a Japanese sweet)

Japanese Pronunciation: Kyandi or Okashi

MMMMM who doesnt love candy or sweets...ONLY WEIRDOS!
Japanese candy is very interesting, alot of them using interesting mixes of flavors, but are always delicious and of the perfect consistency.
They also have some confections for adult palettes only.
But either way, I am always down to get my munch on with their sweets!!
I also really love how similar english words can be to japanese. Hence the use of Katakana.
But I especially love when japanese candies have faces!!!!

おいしい!!!

Mitsuwa Fun!

On Friday June 3rd, my boyfriend and I attended the special food event being held at Mitsuwa Marketplace in Edgewater, New Jersey.
It was such blast! Mitsuwa Marketplace is a usual stomping ground for us but we had never been there during a special event.
There were tons of chefs flown in from all over Japan, and lots of yummy foods to try!
But one of the best parts was coming back into contact with one of my favoritest dishes: Takoyaki!

おいしい / Oishii / Yummy!!!
And all of the staff was incredibly friendly, helpful and funny just look!

Now my boyfriend, being the Mochi lover that he is, also found an assortment of new Mochi and Daifuku to try!
But such a great way to end beautiful day for us was eating green tea and black sesame ice cream!
YUMMY YUMMY!!
So if any of you are interested in going to Mitsuwa just visit http://www.mitsuwa.com/english/index.html
and they have the address there or simply go to 42nd street Port Authority ask for the Mitsuwa Shuttle Bus, and they have the bus times.

I HIGHLY SUGGEST visiting Mitsuwa at some point because not only is there an awesome selection of asian supermarket goods and an amazing food court but there are really lovely shops in the surrounding area.
Theres Sanseido Books which doesnt really sell anything in english but if you are trying to learn japanese it helps to use magazines as a guide to remember Kanji, Katakana and Hiragana. They also sell the best fashion magazines from Japan such as J.J, Egg, and ViVi!
Their also having a sale on some of the older issues!!! I got my Koda ViVi mag for only $5.00!!!! WOWZA. hehe
To the left of Sanseido is a nifty japanese goods store ( I dont remember the name)
But thats where my boyfriend gets all my cute Miyazki film character gifts for me.
They also sell random bits of 2ne1 and BigBang goods as well!!!
They also sell a random assortment of figures and Kimonos there!!!
Now, to the right of Sanseido is a really cute Feng Shui store.

And if your a nail freak like I am, to the farrrrrr left of Sanseido is a staircase.
Take it upstairs and to your immediate left is Michi Beauty Salon.
Not only do they do japanese perms and offer other amazing hair care services but they also do Japanese 3-D Nail Art!!!!  かわいい!

Its so hard to find such places in the city that do the CalGel nail art and I can only imagine trying in New Jersey (YIKES!)
Right after your long day of shopping, eating, reading and being pampered like the beauty queen that you are, head towards the parking in the back of Mitsuwa for an amazing view over the Hudson River.

Such an amazing view and ending to a fabulous day!!!
私は愛ミツワ!
